Redeye SAM Platoon

Israeli infantry forces used a wide variety of small arms, from foreigndesigns like the US M16 assault rifle and Belgian FN MAG light machine-gun, tocaptured Soviet designs like the AK-47/AKM assault rifles and Negevmachine-guns. However, the frontline mechanised brigades were issued withIsraeli designed and produced Galil assault rifles, backed up with FN MAGmachine-guns. For short range self-defence anti-tank they used the US M72 LAWdesposible weapons.
The Israelis also recognised a good weapon system when they saw it and usedlocally manufactured copies of the Soviet RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenadeanti-tank weapon. Each platoon also had a M47 Dragon antitank guided missileteam and a light mortar.

Each Mech Infantry Platoon was organised into three rifle squads of ten menmounted in a M113 ‘Zelda’, with an additional armoured personnel carrier forthe platoon headquarters.
