Malifaux Grootslang

The Grootslang is an ambush predator found primarily in the Bayou. Theselarge beasts possess a natural camouflage that enables them to blend in wellwith leafy canopies and rock walls. They were unknown in the Bayou until veryrecently, and there are theories in scholastic circles that Grootslangs may havebeen subterranean predators that were released from a natural cave system whenthe Red Cage struck the Bayou. A Grootslang's most notable feature is itsincredibly long and flexible tongue, which is razor sharp and coated with thecreature's venomous saliva. It prefers to use this tongue to lash out atunsuspecting prey from above, only dropping down to claw at its victim after ithas been incapacitated by the Grootslang's venom. Grootslangs may hunt from thetrees, but they spend much of their lives underground. They are able to quicklyburrow through the soft soil of the Bayou, and they often create many dark lairsin their territory, within which they consume those they've killed.

According tothe game's backstory, the city of Malifaux was discovered through a portal intoanother world. This world is a source of the valuable mineral known as“soulstone” which allows for magical effects. Games pit masters and theircrews against one another for control of this resource.
